Sauder Village

Sauder Village is a living history museum in Archbold, Ohio that focuses on local history, particularly that related to the Mennonite community.

In my time here, I worked as a Curatorial Intern. The project I worked on was creating an internal archives collection. This entailed acquiring historical records (records they no longer used on a regular basis) from the department heads and retrieving records that had been in storage in the inn attic, then appraising those records as well as those that had been previously submitted. As I determined what documents and objects would be a part of the collection, I began the arrangement process, which I then further refined.

Upon completion, I created a finding aid, a copy of which can be downloaded here.

Additionally, I created a Record Transfer Guide in order to make adding to the collection in the future much easier. This way, the department heads will have a better idea of what to submit for the internal archives collection, and the curatorial staff will ideally have a lot less material to appraise.

A copy of the guide can be downloaded here.
