Information Organization Project

Queer Access Media

A project for which I created an information institute focused on media featuring queer characters and used Libib to create a sample database with ten novels. I describe my ideal database for this collection and compare it to the database I was able to create.

What I like best about this system that I created is that I made it possible to search the collection by queer identity. Because, while I did not include all of the identities within the community by a longshot, just having the option is a great feature that I would love to find in another system.
I wasn’t lying when I said that the queer community has a tendency to search by identity as much as we search by genre. It’s a feature that I think any library or information institution could utilize to their benefit, as it would bring more traffic if users are about to perform a more specialized search.
